- Loblaw Cos. reported that third quarter sales were up 7.1 percent to the equivalent of $4.6 billion (US), that same-store sales grew 4 percent, and that net income was up 36.2 percent.
- Eckerd Drugs’ total sales in the third quarter rose 5.7 percent to $3.6 billion, with comparable-store pharmacy sales increasing 7.3 percent. Front-end sales were reported to be flat. Operating profit more than doubled to $79 million in the third quarter.
