The Center For Science In The Public Interest (CSPI) has published a list of turkey producing plants that are “least likely” to carry salmonella bacteria, a list based on testing by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA).
Some 39 plants around the country were tested 56 times each; exactly one plant came up completely clean, a facility operated by Perdue Foods in Washington, Indiana.

The lesson here isn’t just about what kind of turkey to buy for Thanksgiving.
It also is about how easily this kind of information can be disseminated to consumers. Which is yet another reason that retailers and manufacturers have to make sure their noses are clean all the time.
