Fleming Companies announced that because of its reorganization and divestment of its retailing business, it has realigned its management team.

Neal Rider has been named to the new position of Executive Vice President, Business and Operations Development, a new position “responsible for maximizing Fleming's business opportunities, while also gaining additional operational experience,” according to a company statement. He will be in charge of facilitating Fleming's growth and profitability in terms of building sales, advancing procurement and facilitating cost-cutting opportunities. Rider has been Fleming’s CFO for the past three years.

According to a Fleming statement, Matt Hildreth will become the Senior Vice President of Business Development; Chris Walsh becomes Vice President, Marketing, Convenience Distribution.

Succeeding Mr. Rider as Chief Financial Officer will be Mark Shapiro, currently Senior Vice President of Finance and Control.

Carlos Hernandez, currently the General Counsel, Secretary and Senior Vice President, has been promoted to General Counsel, Secretary and Executive Vice President, and will assume the additional responsibilities of real estate and non-merchandise procurement.

Rob Allen, currently Executive Vice President and President, Convenience Distribution, has been named President and CEO, Convenience Distribution.

Mike Walsh, the Executive Vice President of Sales, Convenience Distribution, will see his position elevated to corporate officer level.

Todd Stevens, Senior Vice President, Convenience Distribution, has been elected a corporate officer.

Scott Nicholson has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Operations.

Mark Hansen, Fleming’s Chairman and CEO, said, "These management appointments are the next logical step in our strategic plan. The plan has included integrating our convenience distribution business, divesting retail stores, diversifying our customer base, centralizing procurement and support functions and leveraging technology investments to accelerate efficiency and cost reduction programs.”
