  • Walgreen, the largest U.S. drugstore chain, said total sales increased 12.1 percent for November, to $2.54 billion from $2.26 billion a year ago. Same store sales were up seven percent. Total pharmacy sales rose 17.7 percent.



  • CVS reported that total sales for the four weeks ended Nov. 23 rose 10.2 percent to $1.93 billion from $1.75 billion last year. Pharmacy sales represented 68.8 percent of total company sales during the month. Same-store sales rose 10.2 percent. Front-end same-store sales rose 0.7 percent, CVS said, while pharmacy same-store sales rose 15.2 percent.



  • Australian retailer Foodland Associated posted a 53 percent increase in first-quarter sales to the equivalent of $841 million (US), in part because of the integration of Woolworths in New Zealand. A net profit increase of 10 percent was reported for the first quarter,
