We’ve heard this one before, but there seems to be a rumor running around Canada right now that Wal-Mart is once again discussing a possible acquisition of Loblaw Co.

Not only is this a rumor that has surfaced before, but we suspect it may be emerging in the frenzy of Wal-Mart’s bid for Safeway in the UK, and its considering the possibility of becoming a third-part grocery wholesaler serving independent grocers in the US.
Then again, it is entirely possible that Wal-Mart could do all three things by dipping into petty cash...
