business news in context, analysis with attitude

Marsh Supermarkets Inc. announced that it will shut down its Fresh Express Home Delivery Operation, effective February 15.

``Due to a substantial increase in technology cost from our vendor over the past year, we have made the difficult decision to close our delivery service and streamline our support structure to focus our energies on our core business of supermarket operations,'' said Don E. Marsh, chairman and CEO.

The operation allowed customers to order via phone, fax or online.
KC's View:
We have a lot of respect for Marsh, and can certainly respect its decision in this matter.

The only question we would ask is whether the company is eliminating a service that separates it from the competition.
