Coca-Cola’s US market share, driven by the success of Vanilla Coke and the continuing growth of Diet Coke, expanded to 44.3 percent last year, the first growth the company has seen in four years.
Beverage Digest reports that many of the older brands, such as Coke Classic, Pepsi and Dr Pepper, are losing market share. Only two of the 10 biggest brands -- Diet Coke and Diet Pepsi -- gained market share last year.
In the coming year, Coke reportedly plans to launch Sprite Remix, a new "tropical" version of its lemon-lime soft drink Sprite, while PepsiCo will launch Mountain Dew LiveWire, a new orange-flavored Mountain Dew only during summer months.
