- CVS Corp. said that it plans to spend more than $1 billion this year on capital expenditures, opening between 150 to 175 stores, of which 80 to 100 stores will be in new markets. It opened 174 stores in fiscal 2002. The company also said it plans to relocate 100 stores and close 50 stores.
CVS operates more than 4,000 stores in 32 states and the District of Columbia. - German discount retailer Aldi reportedly plans to build its first store in the affluent suburbs of South Dublin., Ireland.
