  • MSNBC reports that McDonald’s has committed to expanding its menu of healthier products, even though these items are not as popular as its burgers and fries and don’t make the company as much money.

The company says that carrying the products is good long-term business sense because it has allowed McDonald’s to build traffic among people who ordinarily don’t eat at its stores.

  • UK retailer Tesco reportedly plans to announce today that it will expand its nonfoods offerings, open its first nonfoods store (called Tesco Homeplus), and will in this effort create jobs for some 7,500 people. According to reports, the expansion will include electronics, clothes and home furnishings.
