business news in context, analysis with attitude

During my trip to St. Louis, I had a chance to connect with an aunt - now the last surviving member of her generation in the Coupe family - and some cousins.  One of them actually is an MNB reader, and he schooled me in some family history that I knew nothing about.  History is important, I think, whether it be family history or company history.  And I have some additional thoughts.  (One other thing.  This "story" may better qualify as "legend."  But as they say in The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, "When the legend becomes fact, print the legend.”)
