The Tampa Bay Times reports that as a result of the sale of its retail banners - Winn-Dixie and Harveys - to Aldi, Southeastern Grocers (SEG) is selling its pharmacy business to CVS and Walgreen.
According to the story, "Southeastern Grocers told its pharmacists that it will sell all of its Winn-Dixie and Harveys pharmacy assets to both CVS and Walgreens by the end of the year … The pharmacies will 'confidentially' transfer prescriptions and client files by the end of the year and customers will get advance notice."
In addition to selling Winn-Dixie and Harveys to Aldi, SEG is selling its Fresco y Más banner to an investment company.

Aldi may be willing to operate a retail banner different from its traditional business, but operating pharmacies clearly was a bridge too far.
